Mustang is one of the recently opened areas (October 1991) for limited trekking groups with a special permit. It is a former Bhuddist kingdom of Lo, situated on the upper Kaligandaki River which has carved the deepest gorge in the world between Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. Most of the people of this region are influenced by Tibetan culture. Since there are not many tourists in the area, there is less human impact on the land and there are panoramic views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Nilgiri and many other awesome views of mountain peaks.
