Sherpa Journeys is sponsoring a benefit dinner & concert of world music for our Tibetan medicine project in Nepal. Created to bring health care to a remote village and to preserve Tibetan/Sherpa culture and endangered medicinal plant species, we will plant a garden on a humanitarian/cultural trek this October. The garden will provide medicines to the people of these villages in the lower valleys of Mt. Everest. On our next tour in the Spring of 2011, we will begin building a health post where Dr. Sonam Tsering Sherpa will practice Tibetan medicine in his home town after graduating this November.
To raise funds for this project, we are having a benefit dinner and concert featuring the amazing pianist and composer Sheldon Sands
The evening will include the following schedule:
4:00: Reception with hors d’oeuvres, aperitifs and music from Sheldon Sands and others, with silent auction
4:45: Speaker Kathleen Haggerty, owner of Sherpa Journeys, will talk about the project details and the trek/tour coming this October 9 to 31
5:15: Concert set 1
5:45: Drs. Nashalla and Tsundu Nyinda will talk about Tibetan medicine and it's significance in today's society as well as the importance of cultural preservation of the Tibetan people.
